Last but not least!

Cagney received a bunch of wild grass in the post!

Thank you again to Fairy Godmother Rose. 🙂  She is very, very kind, making sure that Cagney was not left out, given that A The Hen, Ms Campbella-Bezukhov & Mr Norman Bezukhov have all received a parcel.  She is also extra kind because not everyone would go to the trouble to please a bad, bad, boy such as Cagney.

Here he is, enjoying the lovely grass but keeping his beady eye out for anyone else who dares eat it!

I've got my eye on you!

Happy 1st Birthday, Master Bezukhov!

Happy 1st birthday to the chattering… .the cheerful… the completely chirpy….. Norman Bezukhov!

To mark this special day, Bezuky was happy to fill in the birthday questionnaire. Here are his responses:

1. What has been the highlight of the last year?

Being introduced to my girl Raspy. She’s like a mirror image of me (minus black lines on her back & I guess she has a beard whereas I only have spots….)

2. What has been your biggest challenge in the last year?

Completing a hanky-panky session with my girl Raspy, when my mate Cagney isn’t otherwise engaged. He’s my best mate but he can be a right tit at times!

3. Have you changed in the last year? If yes, in what way/s?

I have become cuter.

4. If you could relive the last year what would you do differently?

Pay more attention to my girl Raspy. I regret that sometimes I have allowed my mate Cagney to take over & a few times… well many times… he has landed me in trouble… but don’t tell him I said so….

5. What do you plan to improve in the next year?

Raspy tells me….. to have more baths or showers…

6. Where do you see yourself in 5 yrs time?

Still loving my girl Raspy-Bella. She’s everything I could ever want in a girl… beautiful, smart, feathery & bearded. I do my best to keep her happy. I make sure she is well fed (she’s not fat, she has big bones) & love to preen her pretty little face…

7. Who is your hero/heroine?

It has to be Raspy-Bella. She’s such a smart, independent girl with strong morals.

8. What is your favourite food?

Cucumber. I just lurve the bit in the middle & I am lucky cuz the others aren’t too keen so there’s more for me!

9. Do you have a favourite quote or motto?

Use one hundred chirps where one will do.

All things pink

Beetroot is still popular with the puddings & toyboys.  Raspy prefers the leaves.  Both Cagney & Bezukhov suck the stalks dry & Atilla gets some by default through Cagney force feeding her. 😀

When they had beetroot the other day, Cagney was a bit impatient when feeding Atilla & did not wait for her to get in position so regurgitated over the side of her face & back of her neck, leaving her with blobs of pink all over.

Out of all of them, Cagney still managed to be the messiest, with red smeared all around his beak & his tail had pink blobs where he’d obviously trailed it in the beetroot.  Atilla tried her best to clean up Cagney, but three days later there were still beetroot stains around his beak.

They do enjoy it. 🙂

1. What has been the highlight of the last year?

Discovering fennel. Man… that is such a tasty vegetable!

2. What has been your biggest challenge in the last year?

Trying to win over my mate’s bird, Raspy – she’s a tough cookie.

3. Have you changed in the last year? If yes, in what way/s?

I have become a mature, responsible member of society.

4. If you could relive the last year what would you do differently?

Spread my love around more.

5. What do you plan to improve in the next year?

You can’t improve on perfection.

6. Where do you see yourself in 5 yrs time?

Overseeing an empire of many Manors with Atilla by my side.

7. Who is your hero/heroine?

Robert Mitchum

8. What is your favourite food?

9. Do you have a favourite quote or motto?

It will be interesting to see what their responses are.  Tune in on their birthdays to see what they say!

Evening news: Feed & Swings

Stop press!  This evening, at 20:45 hours, both puddings & toyboys were all eating seed at the same time!

I cannot remember the last time this happened…. or even if this has happened at all.

There are 4 seed pots, so they have one each, but normally eat on some random rota system.  At first Atilla & Bezukhov were eating.  Then Raspy started eating.  Cagney was sitting looking at Raspy & looked like he was about to jump on her pot.  I got him to step up & turned him around to see the 4th pot that he could eat from & would you believe it, he meekly went there & started eating.  There you have it…. 4 little darlings all quietly munching on their seeds!

The last few nights, bedtime positions have been a bit upset.  One evening, Cagney settled on Raspy’s swing.  Raspy sat on a lower perch & the other two sat with her, seemingly providing support that she did not have her bedtime swing.  It was quite late before Cagney moved to his usual position (on top of the round swing) & then the other three were able to settle in their usual places also.

Last night Atilla did not want to sleep on her swing & stayed on the perch which was odd.  This evening, she looked for my finger to take her to her bedtime swing but unfortunately Cagney was sat on it.  She has settled on the perch below the round swing.  I keep checking in to see if Cagney has moved yet….. but as of writing, he is still on Atilla’s swing….

Claws out for the clapper

Every so often, Atilla goes a bit mad with a toy.  Just recently the lantern mirror has been bearing the brunt of her “playfulness”.

Here she is having a tussle with the purple mirror: BTW, the empty vegetable spear did have vegetables but she tore them all off!

Here is the end result of all the wrestling  ===>

The purple mirror/bell & disconnected clapper have now been sent away to the Budgie Toy Rehab Centre for some much needed rest, relaxation & repairs.  It may well be followed by the green mirror which is now suffering at the beak & claws of Atilla…..

Melting Moments

The definition I have for “Melting Moments” is as follows:

Melt-in-the-mouth biscuit-like cakes with crunchy outsides.

When I was younger, I made these cakes & rolled them in crushed cornflakes but they can be rolled in anything crunchy, like oats or nuts.  They are rather tasty.

So, what has this to do with Puddings & Toyboys?  This picture may help…..

Great care is taken placing toys & perches away from seed pots so they do not get pooped in & over the years, I have been quite successful in that rarely does a pot have a poop in it.  Sometimes a tiny toyboy poop turns up in a seed pot but they have such little bottoms it is easy for them to maneouvre them over a pot.  The puddings have pooped in a pot very, very rarely…… until now.  In the last week, I have found three of what you see pictured above in the seed pots.  Yes, an Atilla poop, rolled in (crunchy?) husks!

I am not sure who has done the rolling.  Perhaps Atilla has tried to camouflage it?  Or perhaps one of the others has tried to ease it out the pot & in doing so, it has got its crunchy covering?

Either way, I’m sure both puddings & toyboys were pleased I removed them.

Swinging grass

To keep the puddings & toyboys on their toes, I offered them Bezukhov’s wild grass in a different way to normal.  This time, I pegged it to the swinging perch.

Well, it kept Cagney & Bezuky on their toes.  Knowing the girls, I thought they would not want to swing for their grass so I also pegged some in convenient spots near perches.

Raspy 1, Atilla 0

Being sisters, the girls do have a strong bond.  They are however, quite competitive with each other & neither will take any nonsense from the other.

My foot hurts...

Now that Atilla has her new party trick, I suspect also that Raspy is a little jealous.  Atilla holds her nerve well when exploring t-shirts & jumpers.  Raspy is far more tentative in her sleeve explorations & has not yet gone as far as Atilla, though judging by her efforts, I doubt it will be long before she catches up.

Butter wouldn't melt...

The other day, Atilla was in my sleeve & Raspy came to the perch where it was all happening & unfortunately, before I had a chance to move away, she grabbed at Atilla’s gradually disappearing foot.  Atilla gave quite a yelp, backed out my sleeve & limped across the top of the Ferplast to a place where she could safely investigate her foot.  After that, she retired to the Manor & kept her foot tucked up underneath her for awhile.  I did not see any blood & am happy to say that after an hour or so, she was back to normal.

The day after, Atilla was having another rummage in my sleeve whilst Raspy was chewing my other sleeve.  Atilla then made her way down the inside of my t-shirt & I’m afraid to say that Raspy jumped on her sister as she emerged from the bottom.  I do not think that even that incident dampened Atilla’s pleasure at having successfully negotiated the dark, armpit bend once again.
