So, it has been two whole years without Thomas.
I have been thinking of him a lot recently.
Phinny’s new need for me to ruffle his cheek feathers makes me think of Thomas. Thomas often used to fluff up his cheek feathers & tilt his head slightly & that was his cue for someone (anyone – I do not think he was fussy) to preen them. His subtle signals were ignored initially until one day, when the Toyboys were holidaying in my bedroom, Phineas temporarily put aside thoughts of his own needs & preened Thomas. It was a momentous occasion, not just because Thomas finally got what he wanted but because in getting that, he showed that Phineas was capable of putting someone else’s needs before him – an amazing achievement for such a young lad!
The Thomas Bath was named in honour of him. He would throw himself in there with abandon & once again, without realising, taught the others of the joy of having a bath. When I see Phineas & Bezukhov bathing in the Thomas Bath I think, “Thank you, Thomas – what a guy!”
Thank you for those lovely times, young Thomas.

Regular followers will know I have many failures when attempting to photograph the boys. The slideshow below shows the bloopers of 2015:

Here is the 2015 review of weird poses & funny faces. You will see there is little difference between the last 12 months & the 2014 review. Phineas contributed a few pictures from his Hercule Poirot session. Bezukhov’s sticky feathers from his medication often got stuck in awkward places.

This post takes a look at the various search terms that brought people to this blog during 2015. As before, the most common searches are typically about budgies, moults, trill toppers, cages, budgie noises & budgie health issues. These topics are also reflected in posts that had most views (see here).
There are many one-off searches but I have listed the less predictable & more interesting ones:
- Understandable but intriguing – Would like further information from the searcher.
my budgie has so much fluff under his wings and belly
how to moult toenail
pets at home parcel post
- Definitely was not looking for a birdie blog – Pretty sure the searcher was NOT looking for a blog like this one!
only fools and horses the sh a dow
would savlon help draw out a finger infection
food diary pudding raspy
puddings for sleepover
colour of girls semen
can budgies have babble both
In summary, I hope this blog has been informative for those searching for budgie related issues. For those who arrived here by mistake, I hope they were momentarily inspired before moving onto their intended destination!

Phineas is randy again.
Towards the end of October, Phineas lost the urge to do the jiggy-jiggy hand jive. Along with this, he also stopped regurgitating. This coincided with his moult. Last year, the hiatus lasted around 5-6 weeks. This time it lasted just over two months. He broke it on the 28th December with a jiggy-jiggy that he progressed, with a flourish, to the final deposit stage. Since then, he has begun regurgitating again & is demanding more of my attention.
Phineas is back to his version of ‘normal’. It is early stages but this appears to mean that ruffling of cheek feathers is now not acceptable. When he started letting me ruffle his feathers, I looked for an opportunity to do this each day & so we developed a routine. Now, when I try to do this he does not respond – he just moves his head away. It is entirely possible I may have to wait until his big moult next September/October before feather ruffling will happen again!

The year 2016 is here. It is now time to reflect on the last 12 months. For starters, here are the top 5 posts that got the most views in 2015:
The first & second positions have swapped from the year before but I can say there are only 9 views between them. It is possible this list indicates there are lots of noisy, randy budgies out there!
Happy New Year to you all. 🙂
