Remembering Phineas: Pillow complete
26 November 2017
Posted by on Over a year ago, I posted that I had prepared the inner pillow for Phinny’s remains (click here). I am pleased to say that I have finally completed the outer sleeve. It has been on my mind all this time.
Because Phineas was very fluffy, I decided to use soft grey fleece for the main fabric. For a change, I invested in some variegated thread that changes colour as you machine, with the idea that this will represent a rainbow. Some blue hearts completed the look, along with my customary wonky embroidery.
He sits on the shelf, alongside Atilla, Raspy, Thomas & Cagney, but I like to think they are all together someplace wonderful, that is filled with millet, fun & love.
Upside-down heart
25 November 2017
Posted by on Perry has a patch of white feathers on the back of his head. Most of the time they resemble a blob but occasionally they fleetingly form themselves into a heart shape.
Recently, I managed to get some photos when the heart was showing clearly. Unfortunately, it only really showed up well in the photos when upside-down!

Remembering Raspy: Six years on
23 November 2017
Posted by on Six years ago today, our beautiful Raspy made her way to rainbow bridge. I hope the millet is plentiful there.
Still in our thoughts.
Love you always my dear girl.

Four Backs
21 November 2017
Posted by on It is not often I get a picture of all 4 of them together but I captured them with their backs to me, & strangely evenly spaced!
Note Perry’s dual-coloured tail. And who was the first to break the formation? Yes… it was Lennie!

Posted by on Happy 1st Adoption-day, Perry & Lennie!
14 November 2017
Posted by on It was one year ago on this day that I brought home these two beautiful, blue birds. They were both around 8 weeks old & most likely from the same breeder. We had not long lost our dear friend Phineas, so their arrival was very welcome.
Over the last year, their personalities have emerged & they are quite different.
Perry is pretty laid back & chilled out. He does not mind my presence & will sit on my finger/hand & readily take food from me. He is liked by both Bezukhov & Dalai.
Lennie seems immature next to Perry, despite being the same age. He seems to be permanently worried that he is missing something important, so is always on the lookout for what is going on. He gets on well with his cage-mate Perry but this may be because Perry is particularly easy-going! Unfortunately, Lennie still needs to learn some social skills & whilst persistent pursuing of Dalai will produce some results (a kiss & a flirt), he is not always tolerated. He is wary of me but loves millet so will force himself to eat a bobble from my hand!
Here are the gorgeous boys:
Happy adoption-day, my blue rascals!
We love you lots!
