Some time ago, I invested in a stainless steel bell*. It is a tubular bell with a nice tinkly ring to it. Over the years, it has been largely ignored, despite being put in various positions & having beads & chewy paper tied to it. It took Lennie to rock up, for the bell to be noticed. Because of the attention he has given it, the bell is now known as The Denisov Bell, after the curious & brave Lennie Denisov.
Lennie first came across the bell when it was in the Silver Villa. I imagine he was attracted to how shiny it was. Gradually, he would inch nearer to it until he could touch it & then he wanted to see what was inside it. Unfortunately, Dalai was often near & although he did not play with the bell himself, clearly did not want anyone else to! (See video below).
Seeing how much Lennie wanted to play with the bell, I swapped it with a chewy toy from his cage. He was delighted to find it in the New Villa & he could play with it to his heart’s content! (See videos below). Fast forward several months & the novelty has worn off! I am thinking of temporarily returning the bell to the Silver Villa to see if that will reawaken his interest.

* Non-stainless steel bells can rust, causing serious health risks to your bird. This is why I got rid of bells on toys & replaced with safer alternative items (click here for related post) & also invested in the stainless steel bell.

I found this draft post that I wrote some time ago in 2015, in the Cagney/Bezukhov/Phineas era. I thought it would be nice to publish it under ‘Remembering Phineas‘….
Off & on, I have offered the Toyboys & Phineas kale. Nice, curly, green kale.
Cagney & Bezukhov initially showed interest as it is green & leafy. They would even go as far as to nibble it so the smell clearly did not put them off (unlike mint). However, a little nibble is all they would partake of before apathy set in & it was completely ignored.
Phineas has also shown an interest in the curly green vegetable. He also has a nibble but his nibble is larger & more sustained than the Toyboys, almost to the point that I have wondered if he actually likes it.
Something worth trying…
Hmm… not bad

I have been remiss in giving mistings. Fortunately both Dalai & Lennie are happy to have baths. Perry will have a bath when there is a blue moon & equally Bezukhov will have a bath if he really, really needs one. Neither Perry or Lennie have partook in earlier mistings which may have further reduced my motivation to give them. However, a few days ago, I gathered together some celery leaves & the spray bottle & a misting was given.
As soon as Bezukhov saw the yellow spray bottle he knew what was coming & started to fluff himself up. He definitely prefers mistings to baths & went straight to the celery leaves to roll about under the water that I was spraying. He also went to the Thomas bath & had a dunk there as the spray from the water bottle was also going across that. All in all, he had a good wash! Dalai very briefly joined in. Perry & Lennie looked on in bemusement from afar.
Here are photos of Bezukhov after his misting:

I must resolve to do more mistings, even if only Bezukhov is interested!
