Toenails & Grass

I had noticed Bezukhov’s toenails getting long.  Also, Dalai had recently got his toenails caught in the chewy toy a couple of times.  This prompted me to book a vet visit (15th May).  Ms Independent Vet (Ms IV) came with her assistant & agreed that a toenail trim was a good idea.

Cleverly, she decided to catch Dalai first.  Given the number of times she has gone into the Silver Villa to catch Bezukhov, I am sure Dalai assumed he was safe, so was taken by surprise when she grabbed him!

After Ms IV had trimmed Bezukhov & Dalai’s toenails she had a look at Perry & Lennie & suggested she do theirs too, which I agreed to.  The two of them kicked up an almighty fuss – this was the first time the vet had gone into their territory so they were pretty surprised.

As luck would have it, about an hour later the postman delivered another parcel of juicy wild grass.  This went a long way to helping them get over the ordeal!

Once again, many thanks to generous follower rosebudgie!

First wild grass of 2018

The first wild grass of 2018 arrived on the 1st of May.  What a lovely spring surprise!  There was some sadness though, as the grass was usually sent by the legendary Sharing Sausages, but in their absence, follower rosebudgie has graciously continued their legacy of sharing.

It did not take them long to tuck in:

Thank you rosebudgie!

Triangle platform

Around the time of retiring the Manor & introducing the New Villa, I came across a triangle shaped piece of cage in a charity shop.  It looks like it was a triangle shaped door but I pictured it as a landing platform.

When it came to the new living arrangements with the two Villas, I set it up to use on the New Villa, resting on top of the main door when open.  It is pegged along one side to the part of the Villa that the door closes against.  The other side rests along the open door, with a tie to keep it in place.

It has proved to be a popular platform, particularly with Dalai who appears to have commandeered it.  From what I can see, a password is needed before anyone else can go on it.  No password?  Then you get beaked off!

Time for Thyme?

I understand that Thyme can be popular with budgies.  Not here.  Granted they have only encountered it the once.  Surprisingly Dalai was the brave one & actually touched it.  The others gave it a wide berth which Dalai also did after touching it!
