Remembering Thomas on his adoption day

Thomas came into our home on this day, 8 years ago.  He was very handsome & photos never really did him justice.

He was possibly my best vegetable eater so he was also a very good boy!  I would like to revisit one of my favourite videos of him eating broccoli:

Always in our thoughts.

Remembering Dalai on his adoption day

On this day, 5 years ago, Dalai came into our home.  He was a marvellous member of the flock, very clear with setting his boundaries yet getting along with all the diverse characters.

He also loved a bath:

Always in our thoughts & still missed.

Happy 4th Adoption-day, Perry & Lennie!

It was four years ago on this day that I brought home these two beautiful, blue birds.

Happy adoption-day, Perry & Lennie!

We love you lots!

Remembering Phineas on his adoption day

The incomparable Phineas came into our home on this day, 8 years ago.

Here is a video of him telling everyone something important.  If you are wondering, it is oral antibiotics on his cheek feathers (clearly I was not administering efficiently!)

Missing you, my little man.

Always in our thoughts.

Remembering Bezukhov on his birthday

On this day 10 years ago, beautiful Bezukhov hatched.  I did not meet him & his best buddy Cagney, until 3 months later.  How lucky was I?

Here is a video of him enjoying some millet:

Thinking of you, my beautiful boy.

We love you.

Remembering Thomas on his adoption day

Thomas came into our home on this day, 7 years ago.  He was a beautiful, intelligent boy & quickly developed friendships with three very different characters: Cagney, Bezukhov & Phinny.

Here is a video of him taken during quarantine when he was clearly having a very important conversation with himself.

Always in our thoughts.

Remembering Dalai on his adoption day

Dalai came into our home on the 14th March 2016.  He was, we believe, around 5 months old at the time, putting his birthday (or hatchday) at sometime in October 2015.  I never dreamt that he would not be here for the 2020 celebration of his special day.  Despite the sadness, I will take this opportunity to share some photos…

During quarantine, Dalai was self-assured & calm:

He made good friends with Bezukhov & Phineas:

Dalai was not always swayed by flock mentality & if he wanted to do something or be somewhere different to the others, he would go ahead & do it.  This photo shows him, in the early days, not returning to the cage for bed & Bezukhov & Phineas coming out to join him:

Bezukhov & Phineas join Dalai to all snooze on the plant pot stand

He had more in common with Lennie that I think he would care to admit:

Dalai was not overly giving to others (flirting aside) though was witnessed caring about Bezukhov when he was poorly:

Despite the above, Dalai would openly preen Perry’s head & was doing this even in his last days when he was unwell:

Dalai was a big presence… much admired & much loved.

Dalai

Missing you very much, Dalai darling.

Thinking of you.

Remembering Thomas on his adoption day

Thomas came into our home on this day, 6 years ago.  He was an amazing blue & photos of him do not do him justice.  He was well loved by all.  Sadly, he did not stay with us long, but his impact was enormous.  Though Dalai, Perry & Lennie never met him, they live with his legacy by bathing in the Thomas Bath.

Here is a video of Thomas in the aforementioned bath.  He was joined by Phineas, who he personally coached in the art of bathing.  If you are wondering why there is hardly any water in the bath…. I can assure you it was full when they had started!

Always in our thoughts.
