Autumn Banner 2020

I am pleased to report that Perry, Lennie & our dearly departed Dalai, feature on the autumn-themed banner of a budgerigars forum!

There is a competition each season to select a new banner, with the winner voted for by the members.  The following is the winner:

You can see it has a Shakespearean, three witches theme, with, appropriately, three budgies looking like they are cooking up some trouble.

The banner can be seen in situ here: http://budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/ over autumn.  Do take a look & have a browse around the friendly & informative forum. 🙂

Summer Banner 2020

I am very proud to report that though they are no longer with us, Cagney & Bezukhov feature on the summer-themed banner of a budgerigars forum!

There is a competition each season to select a new banner, with the winner voted for by the members.  The following is the winner:

The budgies are (L to R):

  • Custard under the umbrella,
  • Feathered Fiends Billybob & Hector under the palm tree,
  • our dear Bezukhov & Cagney,
  • Sansa, Strudel & Spyro frolicking in the sea,
  • Sharing sausages, Marshall with the rubber ring & his brother Ian looking very glamorous in the straw hat.

The banner can be seen in situ here: http://budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/ over summer.  Do take a look & have a browse around the friendly & informative forum. 🙂

Four Backs

It is not often I get a picture of all 4 of them together but I captured them with their backs to me, & strangely evenly spaced!

L-R: Bezukhov, Lennie, Perry, Dalai

Note Perry’s dual-coloured tail.  And who was the first to break the formation?  Yes… it was Lennie!

Autumn Banner 2016

We have won the banner competition on the budgerigars forum.  It is a bittersweet victory; we are very pleased & proud to have won, yet sad that we lost Phineas in the time between submitting the banner & winning the competition.

There is a competition each season to select a new banner, with the winner voted for by the members.  The theme was Autumn.  In the northern hemisphere, Autumn usually means back to school, so I used this idea & came up with the following:

sweetpea-banner-autumn-1-16

The budgie stars are (L to R): Bezukhov, Cagney, Phineas & Feathered Fiends’ Monty.

It can be seen in situ here: http://budgerigarsforum.proboards.com/ for the next few months.  Do take a look & have a browse around the friendly & informative forum. 🙂

For non-UK readers who may be perplexed at the sight of budgies with knotted handkerchiefs on their heads, this is what Wikipedia says:

In the United Kingdom, the habit of wearing a handkerchief with tied corners on one’s head at the beach has become a seaside postcard stereotype, referenced by the Gumby characters in Monty Python’s Flying Circus.

Remembering my girls… on paper

Last month I read an article about preserving digital data in the event of it not being accessible in the future (click here for news article).  My first thought was of the vast quantity of photos I have of my birds, past & present.  How awful if, for whatever reason, I could not view the photos.

To put my mind at ease, I ordered a photo booklet with 40 photos of Atilla & Raspy.  This means that when I am old, rocking alone in an old rocking chair (!), completely unable to fathom any new fangled technology, I can just open the book & look at my beautiful girls again.

(I intend immortalising all of them on paper.  Thomas is next on the list).

Flying pictures

With all the manic flying that goes on, thanks to a troublesome little grey man (!), I decided to try & get some flying pictures.  Of all that I took, only two were half decent:
