Dalai was cremated & his remains returned the week after his passing. As with those before him (Raspy, Atilla, Thomas, Cagney, Phineas & Bezukhov) I am making a new home for him in the form of a pillow/cushion. The inner pillow has been completed. I chose a yellow colour & added my customary wonky embroidery. His remains now sit with the others. He only knew Bezukhov & Phineas here but I like to think he has made friends with Atilla, Raspy, Thomas & Cagney.
As with those who went to Rainbow Bridge before him, I have made Bezukhov a pillow for his resting place.
Because Bezukhov had similar colours to his girlfriend, Raspy, I used the same materials I used for her – the blue velvet & the cotton with blue feathers. The cover for his inner pillow is made with the plain blue velvet & has his full name & dates embroidered in black.

All together
For the outer cover, I used the material with feathers in shades of blue. I rearranged the pillows, so he now rests alongside Raspy. Behind is Phineas & Thomas & behind them, overseeing them all, is Cagney beside his girlfriend, the leader herself, Atilla.
Over a year ago, I posted that I had prepared the inner pillow for Phinny’s remains (click here). I am pleased to say that I have finally completed the outer sleeve. It has been on my mind all this time.
Because Phineas was very fluffy, I decided to use soft grey fleece for the main fabric. For a change, I invested in some variegated thread that changes colour as you machine, with the idea that this will represent a rainbow. Some blue hearts completed the look, along with my customary wonky embroidery.
He sits on the shelf, alongside Atilla, Raspy, Thomas & Cagney, but I like to think they are all together someplace wonderful, that is filled with millet, fun & love.
Some time ago, I posted that I had made the inner pillow for Cagney’s remains (click here for that post). I am pleased to say that I have finally completed the outer sleeve. I am not sure why it took so long but I do know that I dithered over which pictures to use of him. As with the others, I have incorporated some soft velvet, in the form of a little star. He sits with Atilla, Raspy, Thomas & Phineas (outer cover to do), in all his glorious colour.

I like to think of them all together over by rainbow bridge.
Phineas was cremated & his remains were returned on the 16th September.
As with those before him (Raspy, Atilla,Thomas & Cagney), I am making a new home for him in the form of a pillow. The inner pillow has been completed. I liked the material with clouds that I used for Cagney’s pillow so I have used the same for Phineas, & added my customary wonky embroidery. Just before I closed up the opening, I slipped in a little paper heart saying “Thank you my beautiful boy xxx“.
His remains now sit with the others, in particular next to Cagney.
As previously posted, Cagney was returned to me in a tasteful, though bland, bamboo pouch (click here). As with Raspy, Atilla & Thomas, this will be replaced with something more fitting. So far, I have created the inner pillow. I used some very nice material with clouds & added my customary wonky embroidery.

I still have to make the final cover but will take my time deciding how best to do this. For now, I needed to have something more charming…. to reflect a little of his personality.
At long last, I have completed the final resting place for Thomas.
Previously I had reported that the inner cover was finished. I also mentioned the difficulty I had in completing this housing for Thomas’s remains. For some reason, it has taken me ages to make decisions on what fabric to use, what colours, what design & what photos. I suspect the long drawn out agonising was due in part to Thomas being with us for such a short time; we only touched the surface of his personality before his health problems took over.
This was also an ideal opportunity for me to give him a permanent tribute that shows his short time here did not lessen his importance to us. I did not want to get that wrong, hence, I think, the long time it took to finally complete the work.
It has been some time since I posted on Thomas’s sad return to the fold. As with Raspy & Atilla, my plan has been to make a personal pillow for his remains that reflects a little of his personality, rather than keep the bland & hard bamboo pouch supplied.
One reason for the delay in completing this has been my need to find a piece of fabric that accurately reflects the bright blue colour he was. Perhaps I have been a bit fussy but nothing seems to be quite right. If it is the right intensity of blue, it is the wrong shade… & so on.
Anyway, recently I finally completed his inner pouch. This is a very simple design. I used white, as he had a white face & added some blue embroidered writing, saying:

I think I have decided on the design for the outer cover. It is difficult to encompass everything I want to express in such a small item but hopefully the care taken & time invested in creating his final ‘home’ will show, at the very least, that he was loved very much.
It was with a heavy heart that I decided to split up my flock.
After the mayhem that I last reported on, I decided they needed some cooling off, some downtime, some peace. Oh wait…. that may have been me that needed those things….. Actually, I felt their behaviour left me with little choice. So, Cagney & Bezukhov have been temporarily moved to my bedroom, leaving Phineas & Thomas in the lounge. In a way this is reverting back to an earlier stage of quarantine.
The logic of this new arrangement is to see if Phineas & Thomas can get on together & then I can perhaps introduce them to Cagney & Bezukhov (again) as mates. Perhaps this will make a difference? Only time will tell.
Fortunately, the toyboys have settled well in the bedroom. They were out & comfortably flying around the room quickly. Because of a lack of landing areas they do a lap or two & return to the manor each time. Surprisingly, so far I have only found one tiny toyboy poop on my pillow. I would prefer a mint but I am not complaining….
Day one of only Phineas & Thomas in the lounge resulted in Phineas knocking about the room all day by himself whilst Thomas chose to stay in the Ferplast. Here is Phineas having a shout & I suspect ordering Thomas to come out & join him:
–
However, come late afternoon, Thomas emerged. Phineas got very excited to have some company:
–
Thomas was only interested in having a bath though:
–
However, after he had dunked himself in the water, he seemed happier to socialise:
–
During the evening they settled on the playgym together. Unfortunately, they both seemed to have forgotten where their homes were, so as it got quite late, I had to grab them & pop them in their respective cages.

That was the routine for the next 3 days… Phineas came out & had to entertain himself until around 5pm, when Thomas came out, had a bath & was then ready for socialising.
Further to my previous post, I am happy to report that Atilla’s pillow is complete. It now sits besides Raspy’s, next to the digital photo frame, showing their photos. I was unable to get a soft velvet material of an appropriate colour so chose to put a velvet bobble ribbon around her picture instead.
