Mini Beast from the East!

We have had more snow!  As previously reported, we had the Beast from the East, but this was followed up at the weekend by the Mini Beast from the East:

“Following a brief spell of warmer weather, a fresh cold snap nicknamed the “Mini Beast from the East” was forecast to bring another covering of snow on the weekend of 17 and 18 March.”  Read more here.

You would think that Bezukhov, Dalai, Perry & Lennie would be bored of it by now & in fact they were a little blasé about it, apart from Bezukov.  Bezukhov shouted at the snow a lot.  So much so that I was surprised he did not lose his voice!

Here are some videos of Bezukhov:

Here are some photos:

The eagle-eyed among you will notice there are no photos of Lennie.  He did go to the window perch several times for a closer look at the snow but he was too quick to get on camera!  To balance things out, here is a photo of the rascal that is Lennie:

The Beast from the East!

We have had snow, courtesy of the Beast from the East.

“At the end of last week the UK became a victim of the northern polar jet stream, which has twisted its direction unexpectedly, drawing in cold air from the east.”  Read more here.

It has caused disruption but fortunately Bezukhov, Dalai, Perry & Lennie are safe, well & warm.  They have been surveying the phenomenon but to be frank, after a few days, the novelty has now worn off!

Camouflaged

Sometimes Dalai can be difficult to spot….

Let it snow…

Let it snow…. a little bit!

Last Sunday, on the 10th December, there was more than a flurry of snow; the snow actually settled, albeit only briefly.  Once again, Bezukhov, Dalai, Perry & Lennie were intrigued by the sight.  Well actually, Lennie was too busy continuing his quest to be irritating, to be distracted by a little snow.  Here they are, according to the soundtrack, reminiscing about their summer…

The coldness continued & the following day brought a mixture of snow & sleet.  Here they are on the window perches surveying the phenomenon:

In the video above & photos below, you can see that Lennie did appear to pay attention to the snow but the reality was that he just followed Dalai over to the window perch!

Buckets of rain

Such a lot of rain!  Bezukhov & Lennie surveyed it all…

Lennie & the Seagull

It is rare, but now & then we see seagulls ‘out the back’.  I posted once before (click here) about a particularly scary encounter.  Each time the seagulls appear, all birds are scared & immediately rush to the safety of a cage & go quiet for some time.  I do not blame them for their seeming cowardice.  When the seagulls swoop past the window they do look menacing & fierce.

I managed to capture some photos from a recent seagull visit.  You can see in the first photo, that a very brave Lennie Dennie, is still on the window perch (far left), skinny with shock, but mesmerised by the sight.

January brought the snow again

Just like last year, this January we had some snow.  It was not much & what there was melted quickly.  It was Perry & Lennie’s first experience of snow & they went over to the window perches to investigate, as did Bezukhov.

It’s snowing leaves!

As usual, we have had all sorts of weather here.  It has turned cold but no snow yet in these parts.

However, the other week it looked like it was snowing.  The ground outside the back was covered in leaves & the wind was blowing hard, whipping up the leaves & blowing more off the (few) trees.  Bezukhov & Dalai were mesmerised by the sight.  I was filming Bezukhov on the playgym (a rare visit there) when he suddenly looked surprised & when I panned to the window, where he was looking, I saw all the falling “snow”.

Dalai went over to the window perch to investigate further.

Stormy Weather

We had some very heavy, black clouds the other day.  Dalai & Bezukhov watched them from the window perch & waited for the inevitable rain:

For all those who cannot hear the words ‘Stormy Weather’ without hearing the song, ‘Stormy Weather’, this is for you: Lena Horne singing Stormy Weather

Footie Fan

Who knew that Bezukhov was a fan of football?!
